Functional Skills is made up of five different levels, three of which are entry level, leading to the Functional Skills Level 1 and Level 2. The five levels are taught to offer you clear progression in your understanding and use of Mathematics.

Functional Skills is made up of five different levels, three of which are entry level, leading to the Functional Skills Level 1 and Level 2.

The five levels are taught to offer you clear progression in your understanding and use of Mathematics.

Entry level 1, 2 and 3

Entry level Maths is to help progress to level 1 and 2 maths.

These courses will help you to demonstrate that you have sound grasp and understanding of the basics around mathematics and are able to apply this to solve every day, simple mathematical problems.

The qualifications will cover:

  • Numbers
  • Measurements
  • Data Handling

Level 1, 2

Level 1 and 2 functional skills in maths are qualifications aimed at preparing learners for work, further study and general life. By completing these two courses, you will be able to fully demonstrate mathematical skills at the appropriate level.

You will be able to apply this knowledge and skills in a range of areas, including in the workplace, everyday life in the UK and if you would like to progress onto further studies.

The qualifications will cover:

  • Numbers

  • Data Handling

Progression to higher Functional Skills levels, apprenticeships, vocational programmes or employment.

No prior qualifications or experience are necessary to enrol on the Level 1 Functional Skills Mathematics course. You only need to:

  • Be aged 16 or over
  • Complete a Functional Skills assessment to establish the appropriate level (Entry 1, Entry 2, Entry 3, Level 1 or Level 2)

All entry decisions are made on an individual basis.

The course is delivered in person at our Sheffield campus or online. 

This course is eight to twelve weeks in duration, and support through dedicated tutors is provided throughout your studies with us.

Self study is required.

 

NCFE registration fees : £18.00

Course fee : £395.00

Assessment begins with a diagnostic evaluation to determine appropriate entry level. Learners complete internally assessed tasks and, where applicable, externally verified assessments.
